The Reconciliation Week breakfast and website launch at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

As part of Australia’s Reconciliation Week beginning on May 27th we were excited and privileged to attend the annual Reconciliation Week Breakfast held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, with special guests including three of the original Sapphires, Lois, Beverly and Laurel (you might have seen the movie based on their story: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1673697/).

We were lucky enough to be offered a free ticket to the event thanks to our involvement with the Reconciliation SA website re-design, which was officially launched at the breakfast to an audience of over 800 guests.

Mark Waters from Rec SA put together a spectacular event that was truly a massive undertaking and was without a doubt a resounding success. Check out a few of the photos from the event:

About the website re-design.

Cloud and Code recently re-imagined the website for Reconciliation South Australia, upgrading their site from a static collection of html web pages to a custom database powered content management system and dashboard replete with shopping cart, campaigns, blog, events, galleries, asset management, email marketing, social media integration and a whole lot more.

In order to effectively communicate the vast differences in health, education, employment and standards of living experienced by Aboriginal Australians, we designed an effective infographic (http://www.reconciliationsa.org.au/learn/why-is-reconciliation-important) outlining some really quite depressing statistics that would be difficult to otherwise disseminate on a standard text-laden web page. The web site incorporates calls to action to encourage visitors to help make a difference.

An additional requirement within the project brief was to provide an educational and interactive experience, largely oriented towards school children. To fulfil this specification we custom developed a javascript timeline of events backed by the database and with management tools integrated within the CMS. Check it our online here: http://www.reconciliationsa.org.au/timeline/a-reconciliation-timeline

So the launch event was a massive success, and the website has gone over pretty well for both stakeholders and visitors too. Be sure to check it out: www.reconciliationsa.org.au
